A little bit of fall magic...

I love when fall arrives...

I love the smells...
the warm colors...
the super sunny days filled with a crisp breeze...

it always inspires me to organize and create warm and inviting spaces in our home...

I have a few items on my  (and my husbands) "to do list"
but that's another post....

today I wanted to look at great inspiration for fall...

How about grabbing a good read and cozying up in that great chair, wrapped in that soft blanket....
and how about that great ottoman...not over kill, but screams warmth...

Autumn Room 300x270 Fall into the Season

and these are so cute and whimsical...
I especially love the letter...
check out this website she shows you how...

and this simply classic mantel...

I love this wreath and against the black door, it is simple but what a statement...

and a little bit of modern chic.....
Well hope you enjoy thinking of fall decor...

I'll post pics of some of mine.....

The last month, or so...

I know once I had said a blogger never sleeps,
but
they do need to organize, clean, rearrange and take care of family first...

so while it has been a while...

I do have some pics to fill you in on what I HAVE been doing this last month...

It all started when the bathrooms were upon completion and I realized our house was a chaotic mess and seriously disorganized...

being a teacher and the school year looming around the corner this sent me into a down whirl spiral of list's to do's and a crazy, mad dash to organize every last closet in my house...

In addition to organizing our homestead, I also had three to four children to get ready for "school" (if your counting my husband, which I do in this process!)....he's a teacher...

I also have been doing a lot of work in early intervention, which I LOVE.....

so fast forward a few weeks and here we are...almost organized and a full week of school under our belts...

a big sigh of relief...everyone survived!!!!

What you really want to see are pictures, I know....

here are our bathrooms....ALL DONE and functioning so well....

But before I show you the after, here is the before....

The Kids...

and NOW.....
The Kids....

and
Ours Before...

Ours...
After.....

the cubbies finally made it on the "LIST".... thanks to a very patient husband who in the midst of what could have been a disaster...went out and bought a paint sprayer...and if that's not good enough.....read the directions to his wife who clearly did not, and tried to use the sprayer with out them...obviously that did not work well....

I hope everyone is recovering well from the crazy storms that have devastated our region...and take comfort in their family and friends and the memories that they have...

and remember...

A Lake Gettaway...

We are enjoying a beautiful week in Lake Placid, NY....

but a blogger never sleeps!!!

I wanted to share some refreshing mountain views and some of our favorite places here in Lake Placid....
if you ever have the opportunity to visit... you should...

especially if you have a family...

What about the local real estate....

gorgeous "lake" houses....

SOOOOO,
what more could you want than a gorgeous beach right next to a playground and a walk away from shops?????

I know, I know!!!

Gluten Free Options...

For those of you who don't know 3 out of the 5 of us have celiac disease, which means NO gluten...

my son and I are VERY sensitive... and a little bit could REALLY ruin a vacation....

This year for the first time we were able to eat out and get sandwiches of all things....

we grabbed them on our way to listen to an outdoor concert overlooking mirror lake...

(what could be better?)

I know, I know

Gluten Free Ice cream Cones on the way home!!!

Our kids were able to get ice cream on the way home...

this is sooooo huge and so much fun for us....

we have never, as a family, been able to go out to eat and then grab ice cream on the way home....

it was SOOOO much fun,

It really is the little things in life...

so I leave you with this....

Bathroom Update...

I want to apologize because I have been a bloggin slacker these last couple of days....

I want to blame it on the construction...

or the fact that we leave for Lake Placid in an hour or so...

or the plain and simple fact that I have been a little crazy with life...

BUT REALLY

There is NO excuse...so I'm sorry...

before we leave I wanted to finish these chairs that it seems like I have been working on forever....oh wait, I have!!!!

I just didn't get to them, and honestly it happens sometimes...life gets in the way

so here is the bathroom update...

fingers crossed that when we get home we will have a working shower....

painting will be done and if all goes well (but you know how home improvement projects go) we will have two fully functioning and pretty much finished bathrooms...

YEAH!!!

here is the "kids" bathroom so far...

No the vanity is NOT staying there....just a minor hiccup along the way....
"keep calm, and carry on"

 a huge gorgeous closet....

new and improved tub...look NO pink....

this is the floor in this bathroom....this picture isn't the best but I LOVE IT...

AND OURS....

pictures don't do this shower justice....it's so much bigger and nicer than we had before...

our toilet and vanity will go here...

this is a view of our floor....I LOVE...

and pocket doors to increase space EVERYWHERE....

A great little get away...

We went to visit some friends who have some property on a nearby lake....

They have just recently built a carriage house...

a three car garage and an apartment above it...

I wanted to share some pics of their pad because I love the rustic charm...
and check out this amazing lamp...

My friend did such a great job designing everything from doors to floors...

I love her lighting choices and the coziness she achieved in her open space....

She added such great architectural detail with the open stained beams contrasting the natural wood...
and this amazing lofted area....

wouldn't ya know she bought a piece for the house and I DIDN'T take a picture????

I was so excited to share her design that I forgot about my own????

OH WELL, the bathroom is coming along and I will share updated pics in a few, until then....
